First look at luxury line Seabourn's next ship

Like earlier Seabourn ships, the Seabourn Encore will have a lounge called Seabourn Square that includes a cafe.

Luxury line Seabourn on Wednesday offered a first look at the new ship it has on order for 2016, which it also announced would be called Seabourn Encore.

As can be seen in the artist's drawings above, the 604-passenger vessel will offer elegant, contemporary spaces designed by noted hospitality designer Adam Tihany, including an airy main dining room and a version of the club-like social hub called Seabourn Square found on other Seabourn ships.

At 40,350 tons, the Seabourn Encore will be about 26% larger than the three Odyssey Class ships that Seabourn has rolled out since 2009, but it'll hold about 34% more passengers, based on double occupancy. As a result, it'll have about 6% less space per passenger.

While based on the Odyssey Class design, the new vessel will have one more deck than the earlier ships and expanded public areas.

Seabourn on Wednesday also revealed the name for a sister ship to the Seabourn Encore that it has on order for delivery in 2018. The 604-passenger vessel will be called Seabourn Ovation.

The addition of the two ships is part of a transformation of the line that also has involved the selling of three older vessels to Windstar Cruises. The Seabourn Pride left the Seabourn fleet last year and now is sailing as Windstar's Star Pride. The Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will be transferred to Windstar later this year.

The line's three Odyssey Class ships -- Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest -- made their debuts in 2009, 2010 and 2011, respectively. They each hold 450 passengers at double occupancy. For a glimpse of what the vessels in the series are like, click through the carousel below.
