Tobias Harris agrees to four-year, $64 million deal to stay with Magic

Orlando Magic small forward Tobias Harris signs four-year deal to remain with the Magic.

Orlando Magic restricted free-agent forward Tobias Harris agreed to four-year, $64 million deal to remain with the Magic, a person with direct knowledge of the agreement told USA TODAY Sports.

The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the agreement until the free agent moratorium is lifted on July 9.

There are no options on that four-year deal.

After the Magic missed out on their competitive bid to land Paul Millsap, it became imperative they keep the talented Harris, who is just 22 and can be so much better than he was last season. In 2014-15, Harris averaged 17.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and shot 46.6% from the field and improved his three-point shooting more than 10 percentage points to 36.4%.

Harris made some defensive strides last season, and it's expected he will become a better defender under new Magic coach Scott Skiles, who coached him for a brief time early in Harris' career in Milwaukee.

As this young Magic team tries to improve, Harris will be counted on to lead on and off the court. Orlando made the investment. Now, Harris needs to deliver.
