'Magic Mike' audience is 82 percent female

The XXL in Magic Mike XXL might stand for the size of the female audience.

An estimated 82% of movie-goers hitting the male stripper-filled sequel to Magic Mike are female, according to a poll conducted by Rentrak in 20 major markets.

"That's an insane number," says Rentrak box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian. "Everyone expected there to be more female movie-goers for this movie. But that's an astronomical percentage."

In XXL, the crew of male strippers -- Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash and Adam Rodriguez -- meet up for one last road trip, on a quest to figure out what women really want.

The movie might just be the answer.

In two days of release, the sequel has pulled in $15 million heading into the weekend.

The Rentrak poll also showed that 34% of the audience went to see the movie because of lead hunk Tatum, who plays Mike. Now that's Magic.
