Robert Morris has a tough battle against Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament — not only on the court but also in the fight to gain the support of Robert Morris coach Andy Toole’s 2-year-old son, Ryan, who isn’t totally sold on his father’s team.

“I’m trying to get my wife and my 2-year-old son to root for us,” Toole said on a SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio show Thursday morning. “As of right now, my 2-year-old is rooting for Duke, yes.”

So how did this happen? Toole explained:

“So my wife is a giant Duke fan and so obviously during the season we travel a lot, and she’s a huge hoops fan. She watches a lot of hoops. And my 2-year-old will send me videos when I’m on the road and the videos will say ‘Tyus is our guy,'” Toole said, referring to Duke guard Tyus Jones.

“And so last night after the game, I said ‘Ryan who are you rooting for, Robert Morris or Duke?’ And he said ‘Duke’.”

The radio host asked the obvious: Does he know his dad is the coach of Robert Morris?

“100 percent and he knows every player on our team and right now he’s going with Duke,” said Toole. “Hopefully by 7:00 tomorrow he’ll be back on Bobby Mo’s side.”

Ryan then was put on the radio to defend his position and despite pressure from the host remained firm on his pick of Duke.
