Tesla CEO Elon Musk: 'I don't hate Apple'

Yo, let's just be clear: Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk says he doesn't hate Apple. But given earlier comments in which he referred to the tech giant as a "Tesla graveyard," you've got to wonder.

Sounding more like he's a native of South Philly than South Africa, Musk tweeted Friday: "Yo, I don't hate Apple. It's a great company with a lot of talented people. I love their products and I'm glad they're doing an EV."

Of course, just because he doesn't hate Apple doesn't mean he loves Apple either.

The tech billionaire's air kiss to Apple came after a fist shake in an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt in which Musk portrayed Apple as home to his own company's dropouts and former second-stringers. Apple, he says, is the "Tesla graveyard" because "if you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple."

Asked whether he feared an Apple electric vehicle, or EV, Musk took a swipe at its latest tech wearable, which has received mixed reviews.

"Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?" he asked.

When word spread about the interview, Musk apparently came to his senses and went into damage-control mode with his clarifying tweet. Somehow, we suspect that in Apple's eyes, the Elon-gram that matters are the remarks for the newspaper, not the tweet.
