Who is the guy in the Marlins jersey behind home plate at the World Series?

People tuning into Game 1 of the World Series couldn’t help but notice one man behind home plate decked in Miami Marlins gear. This was off-putting because the Miami Marlins are not playing in this World Series. He was a man alone, a dot of orange in a sea of royal blue.

This isn’t his first World Series, either.

The man is Laurence Leavy, a Marlins season-ticket holder who really, really loves sports. Back in 2012, he claimed he’d been to 26 Super Bowls and 80 World Series games, and he said he wears the Marlins stuff because that’s what he wears everywhere.

He was also at a Giants World Series game a few years ago. From a 2012 SB Nation story:

Leavy got the tickets through StubHub, but then also adds that the Marlins helped him out. He owns a law firm that specializes in worker’s compensation cases, and is a Miami resident. He has seats right behind home plate at the new Marlins ballpark, and said he’s had season tickets since the organization’s inception.

He was there back in 2012, and now he’s at the World Series. He’s a guy who loves sports, is willing to spend some cash to see games, and really loves the color orange. Now you know.

UPDATE: Leavy has a Twitter account, and his handle is @Marlins_Man. He has less than 1,000 followers. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor.

(Thanks to SB Nation for sharing.)
