Jim Kelly says there's 'no doubt' Tom Brady cheated

Jim Kelly knows a few things about being an NFL quarterback.

He also knows that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was knowingly involved in Deflategate, and cheated.

“Oh, there’s no doubt,” Kelly told the panel of We Need To Talk. “There’s no way that an equipment manager in the National Football League is going to do something to the football without the greatest quarterback ever to play knowing.

“You do something like that, you’re going to get caught. And Tom didn’t need to do it.”

The last sentence of Kelly’s quote is the strongest. Brady, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL, didn’t need underinflated balls to continue being great. In fact, having underinflated balls likely wouldn’t have impacted the Patriots’ 45-7 drubbing of the Indianapolis Colts or New England’s eventual Super Bowl victory.

In all, Deflategate is about as stupid and unnecessary a controversy as there could ever be. The amount of resources devoted by all parties involved in determing the Patriots and Brady’s guilt is staggering. And all for an advantage the team probably didn’t even need.
