Capitals' Tom Wilson fined $2K for diving/embellishment

The NHL sent Capitals forward Tom Wilson an early birthday present Friday in the form of a $2,000 fine for his second instance of diving/embellishment.

Wilson was given a minor penalty for embellishment with 5:15 remaining in the second period against the Minnesota Wild on March 19. Zach Parise received a two-minute penalty for roughing on the same play that caused the two teams play four-on-four.

Wilson previously had been warned for diving/embellishment following an instance March 1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He has 16 points and 159 penalty minutes this season. The rugged forward will turn 21 on Sunday.

Embellishment fines also have been handed out to P.K Subban (twice), Richard Panik, Michal Neuvirth, Cal Clutterbuck, Vincent Trocheck, Gustav Nyquist and James Neal.
