'Killing Reagan' by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard

Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard have a wildly successful franchise with their "Killing" series, thriller-like non-fiction books about the assassinations and deaths of major historical figures.

Two titles – Killing Jesus and Killing Patton – hit No. 1 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list. Killing Kennedy reached No. 2, Killing Lincoln hit No. 3. So what's up with the next book, Killing Reagan, out from Henry Holt on Sept. 22?

President Reagan survived a 1981 assassination attempt when he was shot by John Hinckley Jr. Here's the subtitle: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency. The book will deal with Reagan's Alzheimer's as well as the shooting, according to the publisher.

Killing Reagan is just one of the big books coming this fall spotlighted last week at BookExpo America. Others with buzz: Purity by Jonathan Franzen; The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz, a Stieg Larsson sequel; The Witches: Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff; Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert; and M Train by Patti Smith.
