An emerging trend in golf’s trick shot scene is for someone to hit on the fly a golf ball that a friend has just thrown at them. It’s like baseball, except it’s harder to do with a golf club because the surface area of the club is so small. Bubba Watson got himself on Sports Center on Saturday doing something similar.

But Bubba Watson is a professional golfer, is this guy isn’t, which is why his result was vastly different.

In case you were wondering how this happened: Rather than hitting the ball on the club face, he swung and hit the ball directly on the shaft of the club. The shaft is made of graphite, so it’s definitely not strong enough to withstand hitting a golf ball like that.
