Jack Dorsey praises Twitter before earnings

SAN FRANCISCO — Twitter: Jack Dorsey has your back.

Jack Dorsey founded Twitter and mobile payments company Square.

Just days before Twitter is set to announce an important quarterly earnings report, Jack Dorsey publicly praised the company's business, its management team and, perhaps most importantly, its embattled chief executive Dick Costolo.

Twitter (TICKER: TWTR) is reeling from a turbulent first year as a publicly traded company. Pressure is mounting on the San Francisco company as investors fret about the growth potential of the service and a series of management changes.

Twitter reports fourth-quarter earnings next week.

In 17 tweets — known as a "tweet storm" — Dorsey wrote glowingly about Twitter's business for the first time since he left the company in 2012.

Clearly Twitter appreciated the vote of confidence. It even tweeted its approval.

Dorsey is co-founder and CEO of mobile payments company Square. This was his first "tweet storm."

Dorsey was not the first board member to express his support for Costolo.

Earlier this month Peter Currie tweeted about his confidence in Costolo. And company co-founder and board member Evan Williams lent his support in a tweet responding to a Wall Street Journal article that was critical of Costolo.
