Sling TV is bolstering its Net video subscription service by adding HBO.

Before the April 12 return of the HBO series Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley, those who subscribe to Sling TV will be able to add HBO for $15 per month in addition to the $20 basic monthly service.

Sling TV subscribers will get the main HBO channel and access to HBO's video on demand library. "It is has always been our desire to make the HBO subscription widely accessible," HBO president of global distribution Tom Woodbury said in a statement. "Sling TV is a part of that ongoing evolution and we believe HBO is a great addition to the platform."

The date for Sling TV's addition of HBO isn't finalized but it will be before the April 12 season premiere of Game of Thrones, "one of the most important TV moments of the year," Sling TV CEO Roger Lynch said in a statement. "HBO delivers hit shows and movies that TV viewers crave, and with this addition we're adding another heavy hitter to a lineup that includes ESPN, AMC, TNT and more."

An alternative to traditional pay TV service, Sling TV includes 20 channels on its $20-monthly service, which launched in February, including ESPN and ESPN2, CNN, HGTV, the Food Network, TBS, TNT and, recently added, A&E, History Channel, H2 and Lifetime.

Additional $5 programming packages let users add more news, sports, kids programming and lifestyle channels.
