Minor league baseball team unveils funnel cake bacon cheeseburger

So who wants to meet me in Appleton, Wisc. for a minor league baseball game this summer?

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, have unveiled some of their 2015 ballpark concessions on Twitter, via executive chef Tim Hansen. They include a funnel cake bacon cheeseburger and a grilled-cheese bacon cheeseburger.

These merit a closer look. First, the “Big Mother Funnel Burger:

That looks incredible. But will a funnel cake withstand the greasy juices of a full-blown bacon cheeseburger, especially considering all that melted cheese? Why opt for the funnel cake over its fuller figured cousin, fried dough? No one’s here to doubt executive chef Tim Hansen, but I’m going to have to try this one for myself to make sense of it.

Here’s the Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger:

That also looks incredible. But with four slices of bread and only one burger, will the ratio of bread to burger be off? Also, were executive chef Tim Hansen’s instincts correct when he made it a burger on grilled cheeses with bacon instead of a bacon burger on plain old grilled cheeses? Probably, but I’m going to have to try this one for myself to be sure.
