The Washington Capitals’ power play has a pretty simple objective: Get the puck to Alex Ovechkin for a one-timer.

That formula worked to perfection again Wednesday night as Ovechkin, who finished second in the hardest-shot competition (101.4) at the All-Star Game, ripped a blast past Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury for a 2-0 lead.

It was his second goal of the game and moved him past the New York Rangers’ Rick Nash and Dallas Stars’ Tyler Seguin for the lead league at 29.

It was also his 93rd multi-goal game of his career, tying him with Peter Bondra for first on all the Capitals’ all-time list in that category.

With 13 goals in his last 13 games, Ovechkin is on pace for his sixth 50-goal season.
