Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel recovered from a bloody head injury to lift the Reds in the dying moments of stoppage time against Arsenal. Despite peppering Wojciech Szczesny’s goal with 27 shots, Liverpool faced a late 2-1 deficit and was reduced to 10 men after Fabio Borini earned a second yellow card in the 92nd minute.

Officials added nine minutes of stoppage time after Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud accidentally stepped on Skrtel’s head in the second half and cut his scalp earlier in the second half. Skrtel returned after six minutes of medical treatment wearing a bandage.

Naturally, it was Skrtel’s head that earned Liverpool a point. Adam Lallana sent a corner into the box in the 97th minute, and Skrtel came charging in from the corner of the penalty area and split two Arsenal defenders with the header.

The draw moves Liverpool to 10th in the Premier League standings, one point above rival Everton.
