Princess Cruises is bringing one of the most treasured and successful family movies to its Movies Under the Stars pool deck cinema starting this month.

The film version of Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews as the nun who tutors the family of an Austrian aristocrat and finds romance in the bargain, will play once on every sailing for the balance of the year.

In addition, the ship's main theater will feature a sing-along version of the story, and the Pop Choir organized each cruise for guests who like to sing will tackle the Rogers & Hammerstein songbook from the show. A Sound of Music trivia contest is planned as well.

The release of the 1965 film, which also starred Christopher Plummer, coincided with the year Princess was founded. The line is looking back at its 50 years in business this year. In honor of the duel anniversary, Princess is also offering movie fans chances to win a free cruise and a $500 onboard gift card every month through December 2015.

The movie will show on all 18 Princess ships equipped with the giant high definition screens, including Regal Princess, which was christened last fall at Port Everglades by the cast of the TV show The Love Boat.
