Brooks gets Olsen role in CBS' 'Supergirl'

CBS' Supergirl has it's Jimmy, make that James, Olsen.

Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness, True Blood, Desperate Housewives) has been cast as James Olsen in the superhero show, which is based on characters from DC Comics.

Last week, Melissa Benoist (Glee, Whiplash) was chosen to play Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El. Kara, 24, the cousin of Superman, has been hiding her powers since arriving on Earth from the planet Krypton, but she finally decides to embrace her abilities.

Olsen is described as "a photographer at CatCo, the media company where Kara works. He has recently been living and working in National City, though the reason is still a secret."

Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash) is producing Supergirl for Warner Bros. Television with Ali Adler (Glee, The New Normal).

The program is likely, but not guaranteed, to be picked up as a series.
