Budweiser’s new Super Bowl commercial, “Lost Dog”, has hit the web, and it’s adorable. The minute-long ad tells the tale of a puppy that gets lost but eventually finds its way home. Naturally, his pals, the Clydesdales, end up saving him from serious trouble along the way. Watch it here:

The spot builds on the success of “Puppy Love”, a similarly themed commercial that topped last year’s Ad Meter. According to Budweiser, eight different puppies were used to film the new clip, which was directed by Jake Scott and filmed at a ranch near Santa Barbara, California. (Scott’s father is Ridley Scott, who directed Alien, dozens of other movies, and also the 1984-themed Apple Super Bowl ad.) In the commercial, actor Don Jeanes plays the Clydesdale trainer who’s quite relieved when his dog returns home.

The commercial is fittingly scored with the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by Sleeping at Last. It’s a weepy cover of the Proclaimers’ 1993 hit, which made it all the way to No. 3 on the Billboard chart.

It’s shaping up to be a big year for golden retrievers in Super Bowl commercials. A golden puppy also starred in GoDaddy’s controversial ad that was pulled after public backlash, proving yet again that people love puppies.
