That's love: Eagles covered in snow protect eggs

You can barely see the head of a bald eagle buried in the snow as it protects its eggs in a storm.

But on Thursday, love and dedication were in clear view.

According to Washington, D.C., news station WTOP, a bald eagle live stream in Hanover, Pa., captured the scene: "The bald eagle was stoic. Occasionally, as the eagle's beak became covered, it moved its head for room. But other than that, the national bird remained steadfast."

Actually, two birds, which WTOP called mates, have been on egg duty. And on Friday, conditions were a bit better, allowing viewers of the stream to make out one of them.

But don't worry about eagles -- they know how to handle themselves in cold weather. The Pennsylvania Game Commission says their feathers provide adequate insulation.
