It would be Momofuku Ando's 105th birthday.

College students remember these instructions well: Peel off the lid, pour boiling water into the cup, let sit for three minutes, stir well and serve.

That's how instant ramen is done.

Google decided to celebrate the Taiwanese-Japanese inventor Momofuku Ando's would-be 105th birthday with a doodle. Ando died in 2007.

Doodler Sophie Diao aimed to highlight Ando's passion of aiding people in Japan. His history is quite interesting.

"Ando [...] found the inspiration to his greatest success while walking through the streets of post-World War II Japan: People were waiting for hours in long lines, just for a comforting bowl of ramen. Realizing hunger was the most pressing issue facing Japan, he felt a desire to help the people of his country," the Doodle blog says.

It was in 1957 when Ando started to experiment with making ramen.

Diao used several animations for the doodle, including showing the shed where Ando experimented with the product.

In 1971, Ando introduced Cup Noodles, according to Google, saying "people have to eat no matter where they go, even outer space."
