Jobless claims' 4-week average tops 300K

There were 320,000 claims for unemployment insurance last week, the highest in nearly ten months, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Veterans Career and Resource Fair in Miami.

That number was the amount, calculated in advance, of seasonally adjusted initial claims, according to the report issued Thursday morning.

There were 7,000 more claims last week than the week before. And the 304,750 claims that constituted the moving average for the last four weeks was 10,250 more than the earlier unrevised average of 294,500.
