Val Kilmer's publicist confirms doctors are testing him for a possible tumor.

Contrary to his earlier Facebook post, Val Kilmer is undergoing tests for a possible tumor, according to his representative.

Liz Rosenberg confirmed late Saturday afternoon to the Associated Press that the 55-year-old actor is at a Los Angeles hospital and that doctors are "encouraged by his progress" and hopeful he will make a full recovery.

Rosenberg says the Top Gun actor is being cared for by his two children, 23-year-old Mercedes and 19-year-old Jack.

Kilmer's condition was first reported by TMZ.com.

That morning, he had posted on Facebook, saying, "I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation," he wrote. "I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA ICU."

He has not updated the Facebook account since the new information was released.

On Friday, TMZ.com reported the actor had been rushed to the hospital because he was bleeding from the neck.
