Greg Hardy to meet with NFL on status for 2015

Greg Hardy has 34 sacks in 63 career games.

Greg Hardy is in New York for a meeting with NFL officials Wednesday as he continues to await potential discipline under the league's personal conduct policy stemming from his domestic violence case, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league hadn't announced the meeting, which was first reported by The Charlotte Observer.

Hardy, 26, and his attorneys met with the NFL Players Association last week to discuss how to proceed while the soon-to-be-free agent defensive end — on the commissioner's exempt list while the NFL mulls the situation — awaits a decision on his status.

Prosecutors dismissed domestic violence charges against Hardy on Feb. 9 after they said the accuser in the case couldn't be found. Hardy was convicted last summer of assault on a female and communicating threats in a case involving a former girlfriend.

Hardy played in just one game last season for the Carolina Panthers before voluntarily going on the exempt list amid rampant public criticism of the league's handling of domestic violence issues. In 63 career games, he has 34 sacks, including a career-high 15 in 2013.
