A late-game fracas against the Minnesota Wild ended up costing two Colorado Avalanche players.

The NHL announced Tuesday that it was fining Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog and forward Cody McLeod for their actions in the waning seconds of Saturday's 3-1 loss.

Landeskog, who threw a punch at Minnesota captain Mikko Koivu while both players were on their benches, was fined $5,000. The Avalanche forward was given a misconduct penalty with 3.3 seconds left.

The NHL also docked McLeod $3,091.40 for entering the game on a legal line change for the purpose of starting an altercation.

The forward was out for a center-ice faceoff with 8.1 seconds left. After the puck was dropped, he checked Minnesota's Mikael Granlund and then fought Charlie Coyle.

McLeod received two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, a major for fighting and a misconduct.

The fines were the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.
