Greg Hardy meets with NFL officials; status uncertain
Greg Hardy met with NFL officials Wednesday in New York, but there was no immediate resolution or change to his status on the commissioner's exempt list, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contents of the meeting were to remain private, as the league continues to mull potential discipline for Hardy under the personal conduct policy stemming from his domestic violence case.
Hardy, 26, and his attorneys met with the NFL Players Association last week to discuss how to proceed while the soon-to-be-free agent defensive end awaits a decision on his status.
Prosecutors dismissed domestic violence charges against Hardy on Feb. 9 after they said the accuser in the case couldn't be found. Hardy was convicted last summer of assault on a female and communicating threats in a case involving a former girlfriend.
Hardy played in just one game last season for the Carolina Panthers before voluntarily going on the exempt list amid rampant public criticism of the league's handling of domestic violence issues. In 63 career games, he has 34 sacks, including a career-high 15 in 2013.

Hardy received the franchise tag last year and made $13,120,900 even though he barely saw the field.
Free agency begins March 10.
