95-year-old man dies 2 weeks after wife was taken away

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. -- Two weeks after his wife was taken away to Florida, a 95-year-old Virginia man has died.

Last summer, Eddie Harrison and 96-year-old Edith Hill celebrated their wedding with friends and family. But their happily ever after soon turned into a nightmare.

One of Edith's daughters said she has dementia and couldn't make her own decisions about her house or her care. After a court hearing in December 2014, Edith was taken from Eddie.

The couple had been living in Virginia with Edith's other daughter Rebecca, who said her sister wanted to separate Edith and Eddie, sell her mother's house and get the money. Rebecca didn't want to see her mother go.

Neither did Eddie.

"I want my wife back, I want her back home with me. She didn't want to go and I didn't want her to go," Eddie told WUSA9 two weeks before he died.

A conservator told WUSA9 by phone that they had an assisted living facility for Edith and Eddie. But Eddie had never been on a plane before, and he didn't want to go.

He stayed in Alexandria in Edith's home with Rebecca.

"I was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia and I lived there all my life and she was born in Virginia and she's lived in Virginia all of her life."
