T.I. wants to play Joe Montana or Deion Sanders in a biopic

T.I. wears many hats. The rapper, actor, and self-proclaimed “King of the South” is also a huge supporter of his hometown Atlanta Falcons, and is picking Week 2 games in For The Win’s Celeb Pick ‘Em. True Blood star Joe Manganiello went 10-6 during Week 1, giving T.I. a respectable benchmark to surpass.

The Georgia native gave us his picks, and also talked about losing to Cam Newton in ping pong, his pre-concert routine, and assembling a football team made up entirely of rappers.

If you could pick an NFL player to appear in one of your music videos, who would it be?

Probably just for the purpose of charisma and personality, I’d say Cam Newton. We spent some time together, actually played on the ping pong table over there.

Who won?

He won, man. I’m waiting to play him again.

How do you decide who to follow on Twitter?

It’s a cross-pollination of people I know personally and people I find most entertaining. It’s a hybrid of the two.

How would you trash talk an opponent?

Usually the best trash talk is the personal truth, you know what I’m saying?

Do you have a pregame routine like Ray Lewis’ dance?

You know, I actually do. I usually go to a room, small or large … and get paid. And then I go do the show.

Can you do the dirty bird?

I refuse.

If you had to make an NFL team full of rappers, who would you pick?

I gotta ask myself if I’m looking at physical ability, who would actually be good at the game or just character attributes? I’m definitely putting Rick Ross on the line. I don’t know how agile he is, by Jay Z looks like he should be the best fit for quarterback. I can’t speak to his athleticism, but as far as he approaches dissecting his challenges, I would say that’s the way a proper technician in football should approach the game. If I was going for a Dez Bryant type of receiver, I’d go with The Game, he got height, and speed, and he looks athletic.

If you could play an NFL player in a movie, who would you like to portray?

Joe Montana (laughs). There’s so much that goes into deciding if you would be a good fit for a biopic. [I’d play] Deion Sanders or Andre Rison probably. They were both pretty connected with pop culture. I think it would have to be someone who meant something off the field as well as on.
