FORT MYERS, Fla. — As much of the country suffers through below-normal temperatures and a wintry mix that just won't go away, it's fair weather in southern Florida — as in time for chicken on a stick and fried Oreos at the Southwest Florida and Lee County Fair.
On Thursday when the day's high was 74 degrees and it was still in the 60s after nightfall, The News-Press food critic got $100 and an assignment to spend it all on what many people consider a summer indulgence, fair food.
Here's how the night progressed. The fair continues daily through March 8.
