11-year-old blind gymnast aims for Olympics

It all started when Adrianna Kenebrew asked for a balance beam at age 4; just one year after being deemed legally blind.

Even though she can only really see shadows, Adrianna just goes for it.

"It's kind of scary whenever I jump to the high bar," she said. "It's hard to tell if I'm going to grab it right."

When competing on the vault, her coach helps her by letting her know when it's OK to start running.

The Baytown, Texas, 11-year-old said she likes proving people wrong and one day hopes to make it to the Olympics.

"The judges don't judge me any different than the other girls. I'm competing on the same bar, the same beam as everyone else, and it's just a great feeling."

Adrianna's mother, Asha Kenebrew, said watching her daughter compete can be scary at times but said it's worth it.

"You see a joy in her when she's doing it, so it's like this is where she belongs," Kenebrew said.
