Woody Allen's finally going to the dark side - TV.

Big "get" for the TV world.

Amazon is expanding its original TV projects in a big way. Amazon Studios announced Tuesday it has signed Woody Allen to write and direct his first TV series.

He's going to the dark side!

The half-hour series - now being called the Untitled Woody Allen Project (just like all his films in the early stages) - will be available in the U.S., U.K. and Germany, Amazon said in a statement. It has received a full season order.

"From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year," said Roy Price, vice president at Amazon Studios in a statement.

Said Allen:"I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."

Some on Twitter reacted to the news by bringing up accusations that have haunted Allen for decades, from his controversial marriage in 1997 to wife Mia Farrow's adopted daughter, Soon Yi-Previn, to last year's re-surfacing of accusations that he sexually abused adopted daughter Dylan Farrow when she was 7. Allen answered with an open letter that said, "Of course, I did not molest her."

And there were, of course, wisecracks.
