Lindsey Vonn was hoping to make history Sunday and tie the all-time record for most World Cup wins with 62, but her race came to a scary end in the super-G at Val d’Isere when she wiped out while cornering. Vonn was ahead of eventual winner Elisabeth Goergl when she went down.

Fortunately, Vonn did not injure her knees. Vonn sprained her MCL at Val d’Isere just before the Sochi Olympics which knocked her out of the competition. Vonn, who won the downhill race Saturday, said she’s still happy with the weekend overall.

“I hit my elbow, somehow funny. I have some ice on it. It’s just a little bit swollen but no big deal…. I was on the limit and hit some softer snow and lost a little bit of elevation, and then I wasn’t able to make the gate. The most important thing is my knees are good. I’m still happy with today. I skied well, I skied aggressively. I’m still going home for Christmas with a very big smile.”
