Mom who had nothing bakes for month straight to pay it forward

The thought of some children going without presents on Christmas morning is simply unacceptable for one mom.

That is why for the past month, Julie Gibeau has spent at least six hours a day in her Brighton, Colorado kitchen baking banana and pumpkin bread.

This year, she started "Loaves of Love" and turned her kitchen into a makeshift bakery.

To date, she has made 1,000 loaves of banana bread, baked with a little extra TLC.

"Kids don't know anything but what they see, and they know happiness," Gibeau said. "And they need to have that on Christmas. I can't imagine them not being able to have that little piece of joy."

Gibeau sells each loaf of bread for $5. The money she makes is then spent on toys for children that would otherwise go without gifts on Christmas morning.

Watch the video above to hear Gibeau's reason for wanting to pay it forward.

She admits, while not every loaf is perfect, she won't stop baking.

"Some of them are crispy on the bottom, but nobody ever complains," Gibeau said. "And everyone just wants to help."

So far this season, Gibeau has raised $2,800 from her banana bread.
