During Thursday’s 9 p.m. edition of SportsCenter, anchor Jorge Andrés was breaking down Jeremy Lin’s performance against the Knicks last night when he said the Rockets’ point guard “was cooking with some hot peanut oil.”
Later in the broadcast, Andrés apologized for the remark.
“Earlier in this show I made a comment about a Jeremy Lin basket that I should not have made,” he said. “This was clearly a poor choice of words. I sincerely apologize. I am very, very sorry for offending anyone, that was never my intention.”
In 2012, ESPN suspended Max Bretos for his remarks about Jeremy Lin and fired another employee for an inappropriate headline he wrote about Lin while he was a member of the Knicks.
As Extra Mustard points out, it was Andrés who actually apologized on air for Bretos’ comments in 2012.
