After noticing that many members of his team were glued to their cell phones instead of talking to each other, Twins manager Paul Molitor decided to make some changes this year on his policy for smartphones and tablets in the name of developing team chemistry and improving focus.

From the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

Starting 30 minutes before the first pitch, such devices will be off-limits in the clubhouse and will remain off-limits until after the final out is recorded.

“Just to have some parameters,” Molitor said Friday. “Down here it won’t be quite as critical. I don’t want to make those things bigger than they are, but hopefully the people out in the clubhouse, the leadership, will take care of some of those things, too.”

According to the report, players still sneak back into the locker rooms to check their phones. And while it’s sad it got to this point, the policy sounds like a good idea: After all, how can you possibly focus on the game when you’re staring at Candy Crush for hours shortly before?
