Bubba Watson's hovercraft golf cart is real and it's spectacular

Chris Chase, USA TODAY Sports

Despite its proximity to April Fool's Day, this video of Bubba Watson riding around in a hovercraft golf cart appears to be legit. You'll never want to walk a course again after seeing this video.

By legit, we mean that such a device exists, not that you should expect to see Bubba cruising around Amen Corner in it. And you certainly won't be going to your local muni course to hover around 18 holes.

Watch this fantastic clip first. We'll get to the details after:

The video serves as an advertisement for Oakley and shouldn't get your hopes up about a fundamental shift in golf cart manufacturing. My local course still has gas-powered machines, for crying out loud.

But Bubba's craft appears to be very real, a modified version of an actual hovercraft that's manufactured for both personal and professional purposes. (The expert in the video is Chris Fitzgerald, president of Neoteric Hovercraft Inc., an Indiana-based company.) Similar models on the company's website retail for more than $20,000.

(Thanks to Eye On Golf for bringing this to our attention.)
