T-Mobile has already released one viral Super Bowl XLIX commercial. But there’s apparently more to the mobile carrier’s campaign than just Kim Kardashian taking selfies. On Friday, it posted a minute-and-a-half-long teaser of a second big game spot, this one starring Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman.
The two comedians spend the clip deep in shtick, taking sarcastic shots at each other.
Handler: “Working with Sarah was amazing because we didn’t really see each other.”
Silverman: “I take what they give me, I make it into gold. … Chelsea Handler takes gold and she makes into a Chelsea kind of thing.”
In recent years, T-Mobile has had a good track record with Super Bowl commercials. Last year, its spot starring Tim Tebow — in which the ex-Florida quarterback sent up his wholesome image — was hilarious. (For a while, Charles Barkley was also a company pitchman. He and Dwyane Wade appeared in a T-Mobile Super Bowl ad in 2008. )
The first T-Mobile Super Bowl ad this year “broke the Internet” to the tune of over 8 million views on YouTube. When it comes to Internet fame, Handler and Silverman can’t quite hold a candle to Kardashian, but this spot could still be a hit.
