The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones (MSRP $249) are very customizable.

Headphone buyers have shown that aesthetics and customization are incredibly important to them. The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones have those characteristics in spades, and offer a lot to customers who are looking to make the jump into a more serious realm of personal audio.

From the chassis to the audio performance, the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones (MSRP $249) were built for customization. Not only can you take the ear cups apart to install your own faceplates, but you can also replace the cable if the first one breaks, which is a huge boon to long-term durability.

But the customizable audio response is the real winner here. Music lovers have had a certain degree of control over how their headphones sound since the 1980s (think of bass boost). But Beyerdynamic took it a step further. Users can switch between four different sound settings by using the sliders on the backs of the ear cups. While the most noticeable difference between the four settings is the amount of bass you'll hear, the different audio modes can fit a wide range of uses, like watching movies, listening to podcasts, and gaming.

The ability to change the audio profile on a whim takes all the guesswork out of buying a set of headphones. You don't have to simply hope that you like them—and you might even learn a thing or two about equalization.

These can isolate sound pretty well, so they will block out street noise or the sounds of coworkers in your cubicle farm. It's also easy to listen for long periods of time without discomfort or fatigue, as the huge ear cups cradle the skull gently yet firmly enough to prevent them from slipping around. Listeners with small heads might not find them immediately comfortable, but the headband is adjustable.

Smartphone owners should take note that there is no remote, so it may not be ideal for use on phone calls. Additionally, their bulk makes them a bit difficult to jam into a bag or purse.

Considering the level of customizability, build quality, and the multiple performance options, the Custom One Pros should satisfy even the most indecisive buyer with great audio, a comfortable fit and a durable build.
