Someone Else's Fairytale by E.M. Tippetts ($2.99)

Chloe Winters is a 22-year-old senior and aspiring valedictorian at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque who is studying to be a forensic scientist.

Chloe is also a virgin (and intends to keep it that way), who as a child was a victim of a violent crime. Despite her dramatic past (she was also born out of wedlock when her mom was just 17 years old), Chloe is practical, forthright, and down-to-earth — so much so that when Hollywood hottie Jason Vanderholt (also originally from Albuquerque) returns to town to film a movie, she's unimpressed. But during a chance encounter on the movie set, the lovely but low-key Chloe nevertheless catches the handsome star's eye.

While media hounds follow the couple, hoping for a romantic tryst, Chloe and Jason become fast friends, with Chloe setting the sexual ground rules. No virgin himself, Jason is soon hooked on Chloe but realizes that the usual tactics won't work; only patience, trust, and friendship (not charm, money or fame) will win her heart.

In this suspenseful romantic fairy tale the author keeps us guessing whether the charming prince will be able to successfully woo the princess after all (certainly she won't give up her chastity for him!). This refreshing love story may not be peppered with steamy sex scenes, but readers who enjoy a good old-fashioned fairy tale will find this unusual contemporary spin on true, lasting love deeply satisfying nevertheless. Nowhere Safe by Dianna Love ($3.99)

Nowhere Safe is a thriller and a romance, covering the efforts of Josh Robertson, covert operative, and his team to uncover a DEA mole, avert a deadly drug deal/terrorist plot, and to avenge the death of a woman he had come very close to loving.

Josh is assigned to get close to and extract information from the sister of a potential suspect (or perhaps a suspect herself?), one Trish Jackson. However, the moment he meets Trish, sparks start to fly between them, and their relationship quickly gets far deeper than is safe for either. Meanwhile, Trish, a recovering alcoholic, is dealing with a terrifying stalker who calls himself — or is it herself? — the Chessmaster, and who threatens the lives of everyone she cares about. Can Josh protect her, find the mole he seeks, and deal with the danger she poses to his heart as well?

This is a lively and action-packed book, full of energy, danger and romance. The love story is tender, steamy, erotic, and full of electricity, and the action plot will satisfy the reader's thirst for danger. The characters are likable, real and fully fleshed out, with back stories that do not distract from the action but provide real motivation for what they do and how they think. The plot moves quickly and is full of surprises that keep the reader's interest and attention — the suspense never dies down until the very end. Minor characters add color and life to the tale, without distracting from the core relationship at its heart.

This is a fun read and a very tasty piece of mind candy. If you enjoy thrills of all sorts, suspenseful and romantic, and want something to keep you happily entertained for an hour or a few, this is a great book for you. (Reviewed by Catherine Langrehr for IndieReader)
