"I am mountain, I am dust," Michael Gungor sings on the title track from the forthcoming Gungor album I Am Mountain. The perspective constantly shifts in a song that begins with a repetitive piano pattern but later swells to a stirring chant, finding beauty and mystery in both the micro and the macro of the universe.

I Am Mountain, which premieres at USA TODAY, is the latest from the Grammy-nomination pop-folk collective fronted by Michael and his wife, Lisa. The group's new album comes out Sept. 24.

A month later, the group — whose music has earned comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire and Bon Iver — will begin a headlining tour that will take them across the U.S. and to Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
