The Arizona Diamondbacks certainly could have used their new mascot in last month’s bench-clearing brawl against the Dodgers.
The team announced Thursday that their own pro wrestling character, the “Luchador,” has become an official mascot of the team. It’s an evolution of a personality first introduced last season and a nod to the Lucha Libre matches popular within Hispanic culture.

The NL West’s first-place team plans to capitalize on the bilingual character’s appeal by giving away 20,000 masks at their July 27 game versus San Diego and plan a kids cape giveaway for the September 15 game versus Colorado.
