Why you should keep quiet while playing 'Dead Rising 3'

Ever play a video game featuring zombies and inadvertently gasped, or screamed, or made other noises? For the Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3, you might want to pipe down.

One of the game's interesting features ties to Kinect, where the slightest whisper from your couch could trigger a rush of zombies. It was difficult to get the full effect in a loud room, but if executed properly, it's a nice touch for the third chapter in Capcom's entertaining zombie adventure.

Dead Rising 3 takes place 10 years after the events in its predecessor, Dead Rising 2. Players follow Nick Ramos, a mechanic from Los Perdidos who finds himself trapped three days into a viral outbreak.

From the start of this demo, it's evident there are a lot of zombies. They seem to be everywhere, and any wrong move could leave players vulnerable to joining the dead. The game has more of an open-world feel, allowing players to roam any way they choose, whether that be on top of car, the roof of a house or other area.

Lead character Nick starts by whacking a few zombies with a wrench before making a tactical handgun with a firearm and flashlight. The demo speeds through with Nick using items such as machine guns and sledgehammers to barrel through zombies.

The weapon crafting system highlighted in Dead Rising 2 returns, so players can create incredible combinations such as the Sledge Saw. Taking a hand saw, some tape and a sledgehammer, players can bash zombies or slice them in half. Players can even call in air strikes, as demonstrated at the end of the demo with Nick standing inside a busted train car with countless zombies in his path.

Along with the clever use of Kinect, Dead Rising 3 will support SmartGlass. Players can sit on the couch with a tablet or smartphone, and help friends by executing attacks. There's also maps with mission checklists and details on where to find hidden objects and areas.

It seems Dead Rising 3 will be as fun as previous entries, allowing players to take out the undead in insane ways. Just keep quiet.
