Ten days after he was released by the Minnesota Vikings, Chris Kluwe has found a new job. The 31-year-old punter, one of the NFL’s most outspoken players on equal rights, becomes the latest colorful character to join an organization with a history of them. Kluwe was fined last season for advocating former Raider punter Ray Guy’s Hall of Fame inclusion with a Post-It note on his uniform.

Here’s are some other former Raiders whose colorful personalities drew attention on and off the field.

The former NFL defensive end, who finished his 15-year career with the Raiders, Alzado inspired a league rule banning the practice of ripping another player’s helmet off his head and throwing it after he did so to the Jets’ Chris Ward in 1982. The lineman, who died of cancer in 1992, attributed much of his aggressive play (and possibly his illness) to years of steroid abuse.

John Matuszak

The 6-foot-8 lineman’s hard-partying ways contributed to his death from heart failure at 38, but during his brief life, the “Tooz” was one of Al Davis’ favorite Raiders. A stalwart on two Super Bowl winning teams, Matuszak created another legacy in a series of acting roles, including that of “Sloth” in the 1985 classic The Goonies.

It’s hard to find a bigger character than the Raiders former coach, general manager and longtime owner, who passed away in October 2011 at the age of 82.

The two-sport star and former Heisman winner joined the team in 1987, but he hit his peak of worldwide popularity after Nike launched its series of “Bo Knows” ads, which featured Jackson playing a multitude of sports with stars including Michael Jordan, John McEnroe and Wayne Gretzky.

The linebacker finished his 16-year-career in Oakland, winning an AFC title in 2002 before being forced to retire the following year after breaking teammate Marcus Williams’ eye socket with a punch following a play in practice.

The Chicago Bears won the Super Bowl after recording their team music video in 1985. The Raiders didn’t have the same luck the following year, but they did give us the amazing wonder that is Matt Millen rapping.
